Let’s talk about multiplayer games on pc.
And particulary i ‘ll focus on some specific games.
Shogun Total War 2
Well it seems that finally Creative Assembly is going in the right direction. Still no persistent War or World, but in this new chapter we’ll have persitent armies, persistent general fully customizable and customizable banners as well! Plus other than classic battles 4 v 4, a new game mode Conquest of Japan, it works like this: You start conquering japan, when you attack a neutral territory you will face an human opponent that is playing that game mode too, a big step foward in just battling cpu.
Mount and Blade WarBand
This is a great game and funny to play! But sometime i find multiplayer lacking.. This is when it comes in the mod called cRPG, a game mod that i think more than a player think this is how M&B multiplayer should have been. in cRPG your warrior is persistent, you gain xp and gold after every battle, used to buy new equipment and skills.
BattleField 3
This will come in Fall 2011 and for me will be an instant buy. But i am not very satisfied so far, there will be frostbite engine 2 which means complete destruction enviroment and the soldiers will be able to take cover on every wall and scenario elements, also i guess some good soldier persitancy and customization BUT only 64 players? It’s the 2011, ps3’s Mag can field 256 players battle and we are stuck in 64 players? Well we’ll see how this evolve.
Dawn of War: Retribution
I am not very impressed with this new chapter from relic, we are stuck in 3 vs 3 battle, the original dow 1 had 4 vs 4, plus the game after two years looks really un-inspired, with few maps and always the same company of heroish game mode.. this franchise really need a refresh.
Guild Wars 2
This is how mmo should be done in my opinion.. no monthly fee, and tons of ideas, plus a refinement which was really due since the first Guild War, with new 100 vs 100 persistent battles and world. Not to mention this is a must buy.
I am sure i left out some good multiplayer game, and probalby informations i provided here may be wrong, if that’s the case please feel free to comment to correct me or add something to the thinking. GG.
Yea. just bought retribution, waiting it to come and im playing beta right now. not so impressed with game, but its cheaper then previous two so i decided to buy it. its wiser spending then what i paid for blackops in my view..
but yea, looking at retribution, people think they payed to play closed (DoW2) and Open (DoW2CR) beta lol.
i am waiting on guildwar2. my friends say its never gonna come out but, if duke nukem came, this will be done soon also. 😀
and mount and blade looks interesting. i should try that game!
very good! It seems to be a bit too POP, but I found it very affine to my opinion. I’d like to see more article of this type. Not just a link data-base (absolutely the best link data-base of the Internet), but more technical ^^.
At mas: for 60 bucks black ops is a no go for me, gw2 will launch a beta in this year so in the worst scenario guild wars 2 should be released the next year.
