The Settlers of Catan is a multiplayer board game designed by Klaus Teuber and first published in 1995 in Germany by Franckh-Kosmos Verlag (Kosmos) as Die Siedler von Catan. Players assume the roles of settlers, each attempting to build and develop holdings while trading and acquiring resources. Players are rewarded points as their settlements grow; the first to reach a set number of points is the winner. At no point in the game is any player eliminated.

Triplea is a networked open source strategy gaming engine. It allows people to implement and play various strategy board games (ie. Axis & Allies ®). The TripleA engine has full networking support for online play, support for sounds, XML support for game files, and has its own imaging subsystem that allows for customized user editable maps to be used. TripleA is versatile, scalable and robust.
Triplea is released under the GNU Public License (GPL).
TripleA has been successfully tested on are: GNU/Linux, Microsoft Windows 95/98/2000/XP, Mac OS X, SGI IRIX, and IBM OS/2.

For those hobbyists who have been playing Warhammer for a decade or more, they will know that the latest Mighty Empires boxed set and plastic tiles is not the first incarnation of this campaign system.
For those with a twinge of nostalgia for the original Mighty Empires rules, or for those new Warhammer players who are curious what the old system was like, Gamesworkshop presents a downloadable PDF of the entire 64-page original Mighty Empires rulebook. Of course, this file doesn’t supplant the current rules for the new boxed set, but it might give you some clever ideas for tweaking your house rules. Enjoy!
