The opening screen and the first few levels are quite cheerful and colorful, but the environment becomes gradually more deranged and disturbing as the player progresses into other levels of eversion. The game was inspired by a quotation from H. P. Lovecraft and it features a warning on the intro screen that it is “not intended for children or those of a nervous disposition”.

A nice platform adventure game.
Shadows are lurking in every corner waiting for our protagonist to make a wrong move, but as luck would have it a beacon of light appears out of nowhere to help him illuminate the way forward.
Ok this is 2 years old, but recently in italy one game magazine is selling with the paper the Penumbra:Black Plague and its data disk Requiem, so i took the occasion to re-post the first (free) of this great horror adventure game saga, made by a swedish independent developers.

When you download DarkSpace, you get the entire game, but you do not have access to all aspects of the game without paying. This is motivation to subscribe. Players who have not paid are in [FREE] mode. This means that their accounts are limited in what they can do.
* FREE players are allowed to play on Red-diamond servers only.
* FREE players can gain rank while playing, but cannot utilize any of that rank. Thus, though you may have enough points to be considered a Captain, if you have not paid, you will only be able to fly Midshipman ships.
