Cataclysm: Dark Days Ahead is a turn-based survival game set in a post-apocalyptic world. Struggle to survive in a harsh, persistent, procedurally generated world. (more…)Talked about this version of NetHack Falcon’s Eye (isometric high-res graphics and more) some time ago, decided to do an official post about the original NetHack.
NetHack is a single player dungeon exploration game that runs on a wide variety of computer systems, with a variety of graphical and text interfaces all using the same game engine. Unlike many other Dungeons & Dragons-inspired games, the emphasis in NetHack is on discovering the detail of the dungeon and not simply killing everything in sight – in fact, killing everything in sight is a good way to die quickly. Each game presents a different landscape – the random number generator provides an essentially unlimited number of variations of the dungeon and its denizens to be discovered by the player in one of a number of characters: you can pick your race, your role, and your gender.

(more…)Quake II AI is an experimental tech demo created by Microsoft using Muse AI, an artificial intelligence model designed for game development. It generates gameplay sequences inspired by the classic 1997 game Quake II, allowing players to experience a dynamically generated version of the game in a web browser.
However, this AI-generated version has several limitations, including blurred graphics, unresponsive controls, and short memory, which causes objects and enemies to disappear if they’re out of view for more than a second. Microsoft describes it as a tool for rapid prototyping and game preservation, rather than a direct replacement for traditional game development.
