Ryzom is now the first commercial MMORPG completely Open Source.
The whole source code of Ryzom (client, server and tools) is now under the GNU AGPLv3 Open Source license.
All the Ryzom art (textures, 3D objects, animations, particle effects) is under the Creative Common Attribution-Share Alike license.

If you are a developer, you can now take the source code and/or the art assets of Ryzom to make your own MMORPG or any other project.

Dear Atysians,

Recently we opened the game to every single account for free and removed all restrictions on Unlimited Free Trial accounts making them truly “unlimited”. Since then everyone who ever had an account and wasn’t banned has been able to come and play and we’ve been very gratified to see so many people enjoying themselves on Atys.

Of course we’ve not failed to notice the large number of people who have just learnt about Ryzom recently and can’t wait to sign up and join everyone else. Starting right now we have opened account creation for a limited number of free accounts! If you don’t have a Ryzom account already, hurry and sign up; this will only be possible for a short time because there’s a limited number of accounts to be created across all three communities! If you already play and know some people who don’t then tell them to come sign up and join you absolutely free.

All accounts created during this stage will be able to access the entire game like everyone else, totally free. We’re going to allow more free accounts in stages; what we mean by this is that first we’ll allow a set number of new accounts to be made, and then when this limit is reached we’ll wait a little while and allow some more, and so on. This means that you shouldn’t worry if there are no accounts available when you try; keep coming back again later and maybe there’ll be some more! Don’t miss this opportunity to experience the wonderful planet Atys and everything it has to offer, because once the final limit is reached you won’t be able to create an account in this stage. Remember that all old accounts are still able to connect and play for free as well, so if you ever had an account before; get to it!

Please note however, that if you have old unsubscribed accounts, you can play the game normally but won’t be able to access the forums or the chat. If you have any problems accessing the game, please check the Support Page for instructions.

Basically I have undertood this way:

-Old account will play free forever. (or until they shut down again)

-New Account (created during stage 4 – now) will play free forever.

-The New (free) accounts are available only for this short time period or until all the ‘spots’ are taken. So hurry up if you wanna register an account…
